This is the Most Expensive City in the World to Live in 2020

If you are thinking of taking a cheap trip abroad or want to move to work outside, there are some cities that you should never step on. Especially in the Asian continent, your purse could come back with anemia.

To determine which is the most expensive city to live on Earth, the human resources consulting firm Mercer analyzed a number of factors, including the costs of housing, transportation, food, clothing, household items and entertainment, analyzing in total 2,089 cities worldwide taking New York as a reference for comparison. The survey also took into account currency movements against the US dollar DXY + 0.19%

For the second year in a row, Hong Kong ranks first. The city-state is not an isolated trend, but of the ten most expensive cities, seven of them are in East Asia. Tokyo holds the second position and Singapore the third. In fact, the only non-Asian cities that are in the top ten are Zurich in Switzerland, Ashgabat in Turkmenistan and New York City.

In addition to New York, the only American cities that occupied the first 20 places were San Francisco (16) and Los Angeles (18). However, most US cities. UU rose in the rankings compared to last year, largely due to the relative strengthening of the US dollar XX: BUXX + 0.16%.
The survey found that Zurich (No. 5) is the most expensive city in Europe. However, the weakening of European currencies in relation to the US dollar led many cities on the continent to fall into the ranking.

Unlike Europe, the cities of the Middle East became relatively more expensive over the past year. "Many currencies in the Middle East are linked to the US dollar, which pushed cities up in the ranking, as well as strong increases for expatriate rental accommodations," said, world leader in mobility product solutions in Mercer, in the report.

On the reverse side, the cheapest city among all those examined was Tunisia, followed by Tashkent in Uzbekistan, and Karachi in Pakistan.
